Biography:
James Marcus Bricken IV was born in Lexington, Kentucky and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He graduated from Asbury College in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Applied Communications with an emphasis in Rhetoric. While at Asbury College, James participated in two intercollegiate sports. James was an all-conference soccer player who served as team captain for three years. James also found time to swim for the college during the winter season. He was a member of Phi Alpha Theta, a history honor society while at Asbury. James subsequently obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law, graduating in 2008. While in law school, James earned membership in the Moot Court Board and the Trial Advocacy Board. He also was a member of the Federalist’s Society. During his second and third years of law school he served as an instructor for the Crittenden Writing Club.

James joined Ward, Hocker & Thornton, PLLC in May of 2006 as a law clerk. Since that time he has remained with the firm taking a position as a litigation associate. He concentrates his practice in civil litigation defense, including personal injury defense, premises liability, products liability and insurance coverage disputes.

James is a member of the Fayette County and Kentucky Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

James and his wife Lauren were married in 2005. She is a special education teacher in Jessamine County. Together they attend Southland Christian Church. James currently volunteers with the Asbury College Men’s Soccer Team. In his free time, James enjoys running, cycling, getting outdoors, following the Kentucky Wildcats and spending time with his family.
