Biography:
Kathleen recognized her passion for law while pursuing political science studies at the University of Louisville. This led to her internship with a State Senator in Frankfort, Kentucky. Thereafter she became quite active in local politics and ultimately worked for the Mayor of the City of Louisville. In her continued pursuit of law and justice, Kathleen then moved to New Orleans where she was a detective with the New Orleans Police Department. Experienced in politics and in law enforcement, Kathleen decided to pursue her passion for law further and enrolled in Loyola University New Orleans’ College of Law.
After becoming Kentucky licensed in 2002, Kathleen’s practice focused on criminal defense and plaintiff’s personal injury. Within her first year of practice she sat second chair in a capital murder case and negotiated a multi-million dollar settlement for a personal injury client. After the destruction of Hurricane Katrina, Kathleen felt obligated to use her legal skills to help the citizens of New Orleans, a place she called home while attending law school. In 2005, she worked for a major insurance carrier resolving a multitude of homeowner claims, either by way of settlement, mediation or through litigation. This led to an opportunity for Kathleen to work for the state of Kentucky, as an attorney handling agent and adjuster licensing cases and issues at the Kentucky Office of Insurance. In this position, Kathleen vigorously enforced the statutes and regulations of Kentucky’s Insurance Code and worked with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, assisting in drafting Model Law for adoption amongst its member states.
Presently, Kathleen’s primarily litigates worker’s compensation cases. In this area of law she continues to apply the knowledge and skill she has acquired over the years working with insured, insurers, agents and adjusters.
